So, what makes the USA a unique and vibrant nation?
10 reasons the USA is totally unique
1. We are a chatty nation
It’s something you will notice about Americans pretty quickly. Even in stores and restaurants, employees are very happy to have a friendly chat with you.
2. The weather
Distinct differences in the weather across the US are the norm. Over in Newark, we enjoy vibrant falls and colder winters, in Los Angeles the weather is mild pretty much all year round and in Orlando has one season: summer!
3. It’s all about coffee
Overall we are a nation of coffee drinkers with coffee houses located on almost every street in larger towns and cities.
4. We celebrate holidays that are unique to America
Some national US holidays to look out for include: Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving.
5. Bigger is better
America is a big country which explains why some things are a little bigger, including cars, roads, buildings, and food portions!
6. In the summer it’s time to BBQ
A staple in America, BBQs go way back in our culture, particularly in the Southern States, where you can expect to dine on pulled pork, ribs, burgers, sausages, and whole roast chicken.
7. Sport is on our minds
We love our sports and you will find a team to support whatever town you travel to, whether you prefer baseball, football, basketball or ice hockey!
8. We measure things differently
When it comes to taking measurements, Americans tend to use the Imperial system so it’s a good idea to get used to your yards, miles, pounds and Fahrenheit temperature.
9. Some of our social customs are a little different
We host Baby showers for expectant mums and bachelor and bachelorette parties for people who are about to get married. Halloween and Black Friday/Cyber Monday are also big business with stores packed with seasonal promotions.
10. We’ve got a sweet tooth
From desserts to soft drinks, we have plenty to choose from here in America if you have a bit of a sweet tooth.
