For those of you planning an excursion or weekend getaway during your free time between studies, we have compiled a selection of tips to help you out when getting to and from your chosen destination. This will leave you with more time to enjoy your trip and make great memories.
Making the most of public transportation
If you are looking for a budget-friendly method of transportation, public transport is your best option. Don’t be intimidated by the many options available when it comes to public transport. A bit of time spent pre-planning will help make your journey smoother and once you get the hang of it, you will never look back!
Los Angeles – If you are looking for the quickest way to get around Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, you have a few options. The Metro trains and buses start at just $7 for an unlimited day pass, so you have nothing to lose!
Booking a domestic flight
If you only have a short time to explore your chosen location, a domestic flight will get you there quickly and efficiently. To ensure you don’t encounter any delays or difficulties when catching your flight, it is important to take into consideration airport regulations and security measures, all of which are available on the airports’ website.
Orlando – With four airports located around Orlando, you can choose from flights at Orlando International, Orlando Sanford International, Orlando Melbourne International, or Daytona Beach International for low-cost tickets to cities all over the US.
Pick your own route with a rental car
Due to the sheer size of the US, renting a car is sometimes the best option if you are looking for flexibility when planning your trip. Some important points to remember are that most rental companies require drivers to be over the age of 25, you should always purchase car insurance, and it’s a good idea to return the car with a full tank of gas.
Long Branch – Pick up your rental car from a variety of locations. With over 10 car rental companies to choose from, you won’t be short of options. Prices can be as low as $17 per day.
Try something a little different
If you fancy a non-traditional travel experience during your time in the US, enjoying the sites on the water is a unique option. Particularly if you are looking to explore New York City, you can make a quick escape to the shore.
Newark – A short train ride will take you to one of the nine ferry terminals located across New Jersey. From there, you can plan a route to suit you with frequent services available every day.
Wherever you would like to visit as part of your US adventures, the best piece of advice we can offer is to plan your trip in advance and, if you are unsure, don’t be afraid to ask for some help. You will also find this a great way to practice your English out and about in real life situations!
